(t) CHINA. Qing Dynasty. Shaanxi. 100 Cash, ND (ca. 1854-55). Xi'an Mint. Emperor Wen Zong (Xian Feng). Certified "78" by Zhong Qian Ping Ji Grading Company.
Hartill-22.959; FD-2500. Weight: 52.3 gms. Large size. Seven stroke bei. "Xian Feng yuan bao"; Reverse: "Dang Bai". This moderately worn survivor offer interesting diagnostics not normally encountered on these usually well-made large cast issues; both the obverse and reverse exhibit numerous die cracks. The high points and rims show signs of handling with minor abrasions and a bit brighter in coloration against the rich patina in the open areas offering a nice contrast to the bold calligraphy. This intriguing example has good eye appeal sure excite many academic collectors looking for the opportunity to acquire esoteric examples to their numismatic holdings.
