(t) CHINA. Zhejiang Yuanbing. Provincial Dollar Cakes. Silver 0.65 Tael Ingot, ND. Graded "XF" by Zhong Qian Ping Ji Grading Company.
BMC-Class LXXVII Group B # 1064 (this piece cited). Weight: 24.0 gms. Top: "Bai Fu" (100 Blessings), Right: "Kai Hua" (Kaihua county), Left: "Xing Cheng" (name: Xing Cheng). This nicely preserved survivor displays attractive rich gray cabinet patina with decently applied stamps, though a couple of areas of weakness are noticed on portions of the characters. This seldom encountered type is sure to be a welcome addition to the next collection it enters.

According to Joe Cribb author of "A catalogue of Sycee in the British Museum", he speculates that the ingots of Group B were official gifts from county magistrates to their superiors as each example known to him had an added good luck motto.

Ex: Hans M.F. Schulman (9/73) # 802.

Estimate: $700.00- $1000.00
