(t) CHINA. Chekiang. 10 Cash, ND (1903-06). PCGS MS-64+ Brown Gold Shield.
cf. CL-ZJ.01(Obverse)/ZJ.20(Reverse); KM-Y-49.1; CCC-457. This interesting copper issue exhibits boldly struck devices with crisp design features making variety attribution easy for the trained eye, though the reverse does show a bit of weakness at the denomination mentioned for accuracy. This near-Gem survivor displays lovely smooth chocolate brown patina with an iridescent sheen that pops out when tilted in the light offering much originality and is quite pleasing in appearance.
It is worth noting that the obverse die (dragon side) is seen quite frequently when encountering this issue (Woodward Reverse[obverse] 3), the reverse (character side) on the other hand normally appears with CL-ZJ.20 where the tip of the dragons tail nearly touches the pointed feature of the design at 6 below the central pearl.
Estimate: $1000.00- $1500.00
