George Lawton & Sons, woollen manufacturers of Vale Mills, Micklehurst, Wright Mill, Roaches and Diggle Mill, Saddleworth, exhibited 'a case of cricketing and other flannels ... [which] will be keenly criticised just now by cricketers, whose season has already opened'. George Lawton & Sons had also exhibited at the 1862 International Exhibition in London.
