World Medals, USA, The World's Columbian Exposition (The Chicago World's Fair), 1892-1893, official bronze award medal, presented to Lucy Dobbings, by August St. Gaudens and C. E. Barber, Columbus steps ashore, rev. Fame and Victory with globe, atop a tablet which rests on the Santa Maria, named in small panel, 76mm., in velvet-lined aluminium case of issue (this with printed card 'World's Columbian Exposition Award Medal and Aluminium Case made by Scovill Manufacturing Company. Waterbury, Connecticut', choice, virtually mint state; together with an 'Official Ribbon World's Columbian Exposition Chicago 1893', the blue ribbon with printed details in gold, 'Premium Awarded Maps and Charts exhibited by W. & A. K. Johnston, Edinburgh – London', contained in original dark blue card holder, in choice condition and extremely rare (2)
