Princess Mary (1631-1660), eldest daughter of Charles I and Queen Henrietta Maria and the first princess to be granted the title Princess Royal. The marriage took place on 2 May 1641 at the Chapel Royal, Whitehall Palace, when the bride was only nine years old. In 1642, she moved to Holland with her mother (see following lot). Prince William (1626-1650), died young, but the couple's son became William III of Orange on his father's death and king of England in 1689.
