The flight lasted 33 minutes, during which Blanchard dropped the dog suspended by a parachute (see image on the reverse of the following lot, 287), which landed on the city outskirts whilst Blanchard landed at Weilburg. Blanchard flew in England, was the first to cross the English Channel, and was the first to fly in several European countries and, watched by George Washington, the first to fly in America.
