Léopold Bellan (1857-1936) was a textile entrepreneur who, born with two club feet, established the Association in his name to ensure comprehensive care for the most disadvantaged in all walks of life. The work continues today.
Maurice Saulo was the son of the sculptor Georges Ernest Saulo, under whom he studied, winning the Grand Prix de Rome in silver in 1927 and gold in 1934, the year of this medal.
