Lower Canada Mule "Large Bust - Ships Colonies & Commerce" 1/2 Penny Token ND MS63 Brown NGC, Br-1002, LC-58A3 (Extremely Rare), Courteau-43 (R10), Haxby-3C (not listed). Plain edge. Medal alignment. Open sleeve variety. Pairing the obverse die of LC-58A1 with the reverse of LC-58A2. The sole specimen of this extremely rare mule token type we have ever seen, with the issue altogether unplated in Charlton. Mr. Partrick records that Courteau knew of a only a single specimen of this mule variety, which may very well be this piece. Missing from the Robins Collection as well as the first edition of Haxby's A Guide Book of Canadian Coins and Tokens. Sold with old collector envelope detailing provenance.
