Lower Canada. Bank of Montreal copper "Side View" Penny Token 1838 AU58 Brown NGC, Br-523, LC-11A2, Courteau-37 (R8). Plain edge. Medal alignment. Variety with wide tail beaver that points to, but does not touch, the left foot of "M" in Montreal. Very light wear, with normal die stress marks around the peripheries. Light handling marks are noted on the edges, with a small scratch on the reverse below the shield. Rare. Sold with old collector envelope detailing provenance.
