Switzerland 10.8.1914 P-14 PMG About UNC 55 EPQ 5 Franken
A very underrated Swiss note from a fascinating series. Issued by the Eidgenössischen Staatskasse (loosely translated as "Federal Treasury") in 1914, each denomination in this series was printed with either German, French or Italian text. The German notes had to constitute 5/8 of the total issue, the French notes 2/8 of the total issue and the Italian notes 1/8 of the total issue of 10 Million Francs. The series was printed by Bradbury, Wilkinson & Co. in London on thick, hard paper. Shortly after they entered circulation complaints arose about the low quality of the paper and they were slowly withdrawn from circulation starting in 1914. This is a very difficult series to find in high grades as a result, and this is the nicest example we have seen on the market in recent years. Wonderful opportunity for the Swiss specialist.
