STRAITS SETTLEMENTS: Victoria, 1837-1867, AE cent, 1862, KM-6, East India Company issue, EF. In 1830, the Straits Settlements became a residency, or subdivision, of the Bengal Presidency in British India. This status continued until it became a Crown colony on 1 April 1867.
