Ensayo en cobre. REPÚBLICA MEXICANA-LIBERTAD, 1826 AU. Interesante espécimen sin denominación y con alusión a México. Probable ensayo de una moneda de cobre que finalmente nunca vio la luz. El 01 de Agosto de 1823 se emitió un decreto que reglamentó la moneda federal de oro, plata y cobre, sin que esta última haya prosperado, sin embargo, su diseño sería muy semejante a la moneda federal de cobre que inicio en 1829 (KM # 315, 333 y 357). Posteriormente, el 16 de Noviembre de 1824, la Federación autorizó a los Estados a amonedar cobre en sus territorios, cuestión que emularía el Gobierno Nacional vía el decreto del 28 de Marzo de 1829. Parece indicar que en el periodo de 1824 a 1829 se labró este espécimen, que impulsó la posterior legislación pro-cobre nacional.
En cuanto a la pieza que aquí se ofrece, presenta reminiscencias de brillo tonificado en ambos lados. Hablando del diseño, ostenta 14 estrellas por un lado y una flor de 8 pétalos y la leyenda LIBERTAD, creemos que el diseño republicano concuerda con la época. Por el otro lado, en la periferia la leyenda REPÚBLICA MEXICANA y la fecha ubicada a las 6 entre estrellas. La Colección Numismática del Banco de México (ficha No. 14999) existe un ejemplar como el nuestro, canto liso, 2.74 gramos de peso y 20.5 mm de diámetro. Conocemos de un ejemplar incluido en la colección de Julius Guttag, lote# 3065 (pieza ilustrada), la cual fue publicada en 1929. Sin duda extremadamente atractiva para aquellos que gustan de piezas prácticamente únicas

Test on copper. MEXICAN REPUBLIC-LIBERTAD, 1826 AU. Interesting specimen without denomination and with allusion to Mexico. Probable test of a copper coin that finally never saw the light. On August 1, 1823 a decree was issued that regulated the Federal gold, silver and copper currency, without the latter having prospered, however, its design would be very similar to the federal copper coins that began in 1829 (KM # 315, 333 and 357). Later, on November 16 of 1824, the Federation authorized the States to deposit copper in their territories, an issue that the National Government would emulate via the decree of March 28, 1829. It seems to indicate that in the period from 1824 to 1829 this specimen was carved, which promoted the subsequent national pro-copper legislation.
As for the piece featured here, it is reminiscent of toned glitter on both sides. Speaking of the design, it boasts 14 stars on one side and an 8-petal flower and the legend LIBERTAD, we think the Republican design fits the era. On the other hand, in the periphery the legend REPÚBLICA MEXICANA and the date located at 6 o'clock between stars. The Numismatic Collection of the Bank of Mexico (file No. 14999) there is a specimen like ours, plain edge, 2.74 grams in weight and 20.5 mm in diameter. We know of a specimen included in the Julius Guttag collection, lot # 3065 (illustrated piece), which was published in 1929. Without a doubt, extremely attractive for those who like practically unique pieces
