PF63-66 CAMEO George V (1910-36), 10-piece gold and silver proof "short" Set, 1911, Coronation year, gold Sovereign and Half Sovereign, silver Halfcrown, Florin, Shilling, Sixpence and Maundy Set, all housed in original Royal Mint octagonal dated case (S.PS12). Attractively toned, practically as struck and becoming very rare in the UK market-place, the Sovereign exceedingly highly graded by NGC at PF66 CAMEO, the Halfcrown and Shilling graded PF66, the Half Sovereign graded PF65 CAMEO, the Florin and Sixpence graded PF65, three of the Maundy coins graded PF64, the Twopence graded PF63.

These shorter gold and silver proof sets were produced to celebrate the Coronation of King George V on 22nd June 1911, with a mintage of only 952 sets which is nearly 2,000 fewer than the full "long" gold proof set (2,812 sets).

The Latin legends translates on obverse as "George the Fifth by the Grace of God, King of all the Britains, Defender of the Faith, Emperor of India."
(£3500-4500)
