The East India Company provided quantities of gold bullion to the Royal Mint to strike coinage with their provenance mark "E.I.C." at various times in the reign of King George II. This was to enable them to have the right to export the finished coinage overseas to further facilitate their trade during an export ban on British coinage for all others.
