MS62+ Victoria (1837-1901), gold Two Pounds, 1887, Jubilee type crowned bust left, J.E.B. initials on truncation for engraver Joseph Edgar Boehm, legend surrounding, VICTORIA D: G: BRITT: REG: F: D:, rev. St. George and dragon right, small break in lower strand of streamer from helmet, taller date in exergue, larger B.P to upper right of exergue, 16.01g (Schneider 654; S.3865). Highly attractive, a seemingly conservatively graded piece with sleek fields, its reverse reflective and prooflike with a crescent of deep red tone at the margins, graded by NGC as MS62+.

NGC Certification 5880761-008

The 1887 gold Two Pounds was only the second currency piece ever produced, with the previous being that dated 1823 in the reign of George IV; and was minted to commemorate the Golden Jubilee of Victoria's reign.
