William IV (1830-37), gold Sovereign, 1837, second bare head right, W.W. incuse on truncation, GULIELMUS IIII D: G: BRITANNIAR: REX F: D:, toothed border around rim both sides, rev. crowned quartered shield of arms in frame, ANNO 1837 below, 7.99g (Marsh 21; S.3829B). Heavy dig at 1 o'clock on the reverse, previously mounted with repaired edges and altered surfaces, otherwise very fine with an excellent portrait.
The Latin legends translates on obverse as "William IV by the Grace of God, King of the Britons, Defender of the Faith," and on the reverse "In the year 1837."
