João VI 960 Reis 1821-R MS63 NGC, Rio de Janeiro mint, KM326.1, LMB-479A, Bentes-443.26. "R" between crosses variety. A stunning choice example fully deserving of its assigned grade, the razor-sharp features veiled in charming autumnal and steel-blue patination. While specimens of the 1821-dated coins typically bolster rosettes between the "R" mintmark and are commonly found in choice states of preservation, to find the significantly rarer cross variety in such a grade is relatively unheard of. While an MS63 was offered in 2013, this is undoubtedly a more attractive example, and as such will demand strong bidding.
