Pedro II 1200 Reis 1845 AU Details (Reverse Spot Removed) NGC, Rio de Janeiro mint, KM454, LMB-558. Mintage: 292. The second-rarest date for the 1200 Reis type, and only the third example we have handled, the last being part of our sale of the Paulistana Collection in 2010. Yet while that example showed clear cleaning, the present piece is markedly original, the usual obverse adjustments blending into the coin's striated toning palette, and the reverse spot removal (perhaps to the upper left of the shield) seeming essentially inconsequential to the eye appeal as a whole.
