MACEDONIAN KINGDOM. Alexander III the Great (336-323 BC). AV stater (17mm, 8.44 gm, 7h). NGC Choice AU 5/5 - 3/5, Fine Style, edge marks. Posthumous issue of Babylon, under Seleucus I Nicator, ca. 311-305 BC. Head of Athena right, hair in three thick corkscrew curls, flowing loose over left shoulder and upswept at temple, wearing pendant earring, necklace, and triple crested Corinthian helmet pushed back on head, short parallel crest ends, the bowl decorated with griffin leaping right / AΛEΞANΔPOY / BAΣIΛEΩΣ, Nike advancing left, wreath in outstretched right hand, stylis cradled in left arm; I in outer left field, HYP monogram within wreath in left field below wing. Price 3749 var. (MI in left field). Solidly struck from bold fine style dies on fully lustrous flan.

Interesting reverse as there is plenty of room for the M next to the I, but there is no evidence of it. See The New York Sale XLII (9 January 2018), lot 79 for another example from these same dies and Classical Numismatic Group, Electronic Auction 417 (28 March 2018), lot 277 for another example from this reverse die, but very different style obverse die.
