Haile Selassie I silver Pattern Dinar EE 1923 (1930/1931) MS61 NGC, KM-Unl., Gill-S6. 31mm. An exceedingly rare Pattern issue, representing only the third example that we have seen in our history. The first, Gill's plate coin (perhaps a testament to how few of these are extant), and described as XF-AU, appeared in 2007, selling in our January 2007 New York Signature Auction #425 (Lot 51019) for a total of $5,750, including Buyer's Premium. The second, also uncertified and described as AU-UNC in preservation, sold approximately five years later in our January 2012 New York Signature Auction #3016 (Lot 23935) for $6,900, including Buyer's Premium. This Mint State certified representative exhibits needle-sharp detail, particularly noteworthy in Selassie's intricate crown, joining with shimmering silvery brilliance to elevate the visual appeal. A very rare opportunity to acquire a representative of this challenging Pattern.
