Harthacnut Penny ND (1035-1042) MS64 NGC, Orbaek mint, S-1170, cf. Hauberg-54, cf. Hauberg Collection-82 (under Cnut the Great). 0.76gm. IIII + Θ + I: INEN (E retrograde), degenerate bust left (?) with cross in place of facial features and group of four pellets to right / + IOI [...] ENVΘII [...] IOI [...] VI, cross with crescents in angles. A peculiar Viking-era penny, often ascribed to the reign of Harthacnut, though Hede ascribed the issue to Cnut the Great (Knud den Store) in his catalog of Hauberg's collection. Soundly struck and very well preserved on the whole, with die polish visible within the recesses of the design.
