Brunswick-Lüneburg-Calenberg-Hannover. Georg III Taler 1801-C XF45 NGC, Clausthal or Hannover mint, KM414, Dav-660, Thun-150. Mintage: 126. A very scarce "Cassengeld" type, produced in only very small numbers and standing as the last large silver issue of the principality prior to its occupation by Prussia. In spite of the coin's clear scattered handling, it continues to present a pleasing sculpturesque bust of George III, with the mottled patina in the fields meeting with a ring of golden tone as it reaches the edges.
