Karia, uncertain mint (Mint D) AR Fraction. Circa 450-400 BC. Confronted heads of two bulls / Confronted foreparts of two bulls. Unpublished, cf. SNG Kayhan 968-70 for tetartemorion with a different rev. type. 0.16g, 10mm, 12h.

Near Very Fine; very thin flan, pierced. Extremely Rare; seemingly unpublished, and possibly unique.

From the inventory of a European dealer.

The present coin would appear to be an unknown addition to the enigmatic series of silver fractions attributed to 'Mint D' in Karia, which feature the confronted heads or foreparts of two bulls on the obverse coupled with a single head or forepart of a bull on the reverse.
