KINGS OF BOSPOROS. Leukon II, circa 240-220 BC. Diobol (Silver, 13 mm, 0.97 g, 12 h), Pantikapaion, struck under the magistrate Diog.... Head of Zeus to right. Rev. ΔIOC Sword in sheath and Galatian shield. Apparently unpublished. Cf. Obolos 17 (2020), 104 for another example but from different dies. Toned and well-centered. Very fine.
The attribution of this coin to Leukon II, is based exclusively in the stylistic and iconographic similarities it has with the bronze coins issued by this ruler, as MacDonald 101 and Anokhin 136.
