PONTOS. Amisos. Time of Mithradates VI Eupator, circa 85-65 BC. (Bronze, 28 mm, 18.41 g, 12 h). Helmeted head of Athena to right, the bowl of the helmet decorated with an vine tendril, a griffin, and olive-leaves. Rev. ΑΜΙ-ΣΟΥ Perseus standing left, holding harpa in right hand and head of Medusa, whose decapitated body lies at his feet, with his left; monograms to left and right. SNG BM Black Sea 1169-72. SNG Stancomb 683-6 var (controls). Dark green patina with some lighter areas. Adjustment marks as are usual for this issue, otherwise, about extremely fine.
