C. Vibius Varus, 42 BC. Denarius (Silver, 18.5 mm, 3.24 g, 8 h), possibly plated, Rome. Bust of Minerva right, wearing crested Corinthian helmet and aegis. Rev. C · VIBIVS VARVS Hercules, nude, standing left, resting right hand on club set on ground and holding lion's skin draped over left arm. Babelon (Vibia) 26. Crawford 494/38. CRI 194. Sydenham 1140. Well centered and of excellent style. Light deposits, otherwise, good very fine.
