AV Aureus 103–104 AD, TRAJANUS 98–117 AD Rome. Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust right IMP TRAIANO AVG GER DAC P M TR P. Rev. Abundantia standing left holding pileus and sceptre COS V P P SPQR OPTIMO PRINC.Allen series 42 type VIII, 45a (this coin) (O45/R–); RIC 123 var.; Coh. 70; BMC 312-4.Ex. auction Karl Kreß 158, 8-9 November 1973, lot 2050.
The obverse of this coin is illustrated in Joel Allen's article on plate 12, number 45. However, the unillustrated reverse is said to be from dies VIII.11, which is ostensibly not the case. We assume the author must have erred in assigning a die to this reverse. The actual reverse die from which this coin was struck is not listed in the article.7.13 g. Slight wear on the reverse. Possibly a result of immersion in water for a long time Extremely fine/Very fine
