SELEUKID KINGS
Antiochos I Soter, 281-261 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 27 mm, 15.80 g, 1 h), Antioch on the Orontes. Diademed head of Antiochos I to right. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΑΝΤΙΟXΟΥ Apollo seated left on omphalos, holding arrow in his right hand and resting his right on his bow; in outer left field, monogram of ΠΑ; in outer right field, AX; traces of erased monogram on the exergue. SC 335.6 (same obverse die as plate coin). Struck from a particularly nice obverse die, and with a pleasing old cabinet tone. A few light marks and minor porosity, otherwise, about extremely fine.
