Straits Settlements Government of the Straits Settlements 5 Dollars ND (1931-35) Pick 17p1; 17p2 KNB21 Front and Back Proofs PMG Gem Uncirculated 65 EPQ; Choice Uncirculated 64. Prototypes and other printer creations for the Straits Settlements are quite rare. When discovered, most examples are plagued by condition issues due to the tropical climate of the region. This handsome pair of uniface "proofs," as they are called, feature trial color schemes reminiscent of the $10 in this series. The current demand for rare Straits Settlements material cannot be understated. This rarity is sure to pique the interest of even the most seasoned collectors. Serial numbers, signatures, and a date are all lacking. Each side is perforated cancelled. We have not offered this denomination in any sort of prototype format in the past.
