Anhwei. Kuang-hsü Dollar ND (1897) UNC Details (Repaired) PCGS, Anking mint, KM-Y45, L&M-195, Kann-49, WS-1071, Wenchao-712 (rarity 1 star). A notoriously challenging province across all denominations, though most collectors will likely recognize its Dollars as Anhwei's most elusive coinage in higher grades. Though no production records survive from the Anking mint, the fact that it only operated for three years, with Dollars issued only in 1897 and 1898, clearly points to the supreme scarcity of the series in general and the type in particular. To date, only 7 examples have been awarded straight-grade Mint State designations across NGC and PCGS combined. While designated as "repaired" by PCGS, unless this has occurred along the edge, no signs appear to the present cataloger, the coin's cartwheel luster unbroken across the obverse and reverse alike.
