Kiau Chau. German Occupation nickel-plated brass Counterstamped 5 Pfennig Token ND (c. early 20th Century) AU55 NGC, Menzel-2951.4. This intriguing Token finds itself just shy of Mint State designations and imbued with traces of the original nickel plating. The obverse, possibly depicting famed German imposter Wilhelm Voigt, is stamped with a large "5," the reverse with a smaller "5" over the original 10 Pfennig denomination. This is the only representative of the 5 Pfennig variety to be certified by either major grading service. A curious issue and one that continues to intrigue.
