Republic Yuan Shih-kai "Plumed Hat" Dollar ND (1916) UNC Details (Cleaned) NGC, Tientsin mint, KM-Y332, L&M-942, Kann-663, WS-0097. Struck for the inauguration of Yuan Shih-kai as Emperor Hung-hsien. One of the classical Chinese commemoratives, and a type that escalates rapidly in value once it enters into fully uncirculated condition, certainly pointing to the present piece as a more attainable representative preserved without evidence of wear. Quite soundly produced even with its mild past cleaning, the surfaces have begun to retone to a charming iridescent color, gold hues hugging the central features and blooming outwards into notes of turquoise.
