Republic silver Pattern "Dragon & Phoenix" Dollar Year 12 (1923) UNC Details (Cleaned) PCGS, Tientsin mint, KM-Y336.1, L&M-80, Kann-680a, WS-0113, Wenchao-884 (rarity 2 stars). Large characters variety. A considerable rarity among collectors and one that evokes excitement at its sheer sight. Erroneously referred to as the "Pu Yi Wedding Dollar," this Pattern specimen prominently displays the proposed national emblem depicting the iconic dragon and phoenix motifs as a direct response to Yuan Shih-kai's imperial aspirations. While notable wisps are evident throughout, the aesthetic caliber of the current offering is undeniable. The obverse is bathed in an impressive array of color, the central devices awash in mulberry that transition naturally to cerulean and autumnal hues, the reverse decorated in a luxurious coating of soft peach tones. A visually superior specimen of an enigmatic issue worthy of premium bidding.
