DCM: LG 16Jan1919 pg 866, CAG No.67 03Jun1919 pg 939 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. On the 9th August 1918 near Vauvillers, in leading a charge against a machine-gun post which was causing heavy casualties. After capturing the post he rallied a few men and cleared the trench to his flank for several hundred yards. He continued his untiring efforts for the next two days and set a fine example to his comrades'.
