RUSSIA--SOUTH RUSSIA. Russian Government. 5 Rubles, ND (1920). P-S437. Remainder. PCGS Banknote About Uncirculated 55.
The White Russian Army lost the city of Sevastopol, located in the Crimean Peninsula, in November of 1920. The White Army was forced to evacuate the peninsula and thus gave up the Southern Front to the Red Army. This note was intended to be issued in 1920 by the South Russian Government, however this series was never issued due to the loss of Crimea. This series was interestingly printed by Waterlow & Sons in London, and this example appears to be an unfinished remainder, with only the front design printed. The reverse print is completely missing, which should have been the Imperial Russian double headed eagle design. The paper is watermarked with a mosaic design. Scarce, and surely missing from most South Russia or Russian Civil War paper money collections.

Estimate: $500 - $1000
