GREAT BRITAIN. Noble, ND (ca. 1361-69). Calais Mint; mm: voided quatrefoil. Edward III. PCGS Genuine--Tooled, Unc Details Gold Shield.
S-1504; Fr-95; N-1236. Weight: 7.63 gms. A nicely struck example on a broad flan, offering bold--virtually complete--legends, save for a small section where the tops of the letters are off the planchet at 11 o'clock on the obverse. Upon close inspection, several thin, well-hidden scratches are noticed in the obverse legend at 7 o'clock, accounting for the details designation. Despite its shortcomings, this handsome and RARER survivor is pleasing to the eye and displays a lovely pale orange patina. Please note that the Spink attribution on the holder is incorrect, as S-1502 pertains to the more common London Mint version.

Estimate: $3000 - $4000
