ITALY. Parma & Piacenza. 2 Doppie, 1612-PP. Ranuccio I Farnese. NGC VF Details--Mount Removed, Tooled.
Fr-905; KM-MB-39. Struck for Piacenza. Obverse: RANVT FAR PLA P DVX IV S R E CONF P, bareheaded and armored bust left; Reverse: PELLIT ET ATRAHIT, personification of the winds blowing clouds leftward. Despite having been used previously in jewelry, this VERY RARE gold issue remains an incredible survivor from what is undoubtedly a small output of coinage in 1612 and 1613 for this portion of the duchy. Fairly well handled, it features a pale gold color and a subtle crudeness associated with the coins of its era. Assuredly, a great opportunity for the advanced collector of world gold and one which will not likely present itself again anytime soon.

Estimate: $18000 - $25000
