SCOTLAND. Penny, ND (1306-29). Berwick Mint (?). Robert Bruce. NGC VF-35.
S-5076; Burns-1 (fig. 225). Weight: 1.23 gms. Class I. Pleasing old tone with golden iridescence in areas. Well centered with sharp detail throughout, the obverse exhibits minor roughness while the reverse shows old marks across the high points. While crowned king in 1306, it is thought that Robert Bruce did not issue coins until just before 1320, and he died in 1329. As such, all the coins of Robert Bruce remain RARE today.
