ITALY. Etruria. Populonia. AV 25 Asses (1.30 gms), ca. 300-250 B.C. NGC MS, Strike: 5/5 Surface: 4/5. Edge Crimp.
HGC-1, 77 (this coin illustrated); HN Italy-132; Vecchi-28.3 (this coin). Obverse: Head of male right, wearing necklace; XXV (mark of value) to left; Reverse: Blank. A VERY RARE and alluring type, this well struck and rather bold minor presents an attractive golden-orange hue along with great centering. The noted 'edge crimping' is not at all determinate, and the piece offers exceptional eye appeal for the type.
