HGC-6, 1455; Ashton-251; Pr-2518. Struck in the name and types of Alexander III (the Great) of Macedon. Ainetor, magistrate. Obverse: Head of Herakles right, wearing lion skin; Reverse: Zeus seated left on throne, holding eagle and scepter; in left field, ΑΙΝΗΤΩΡ above rose; below throne, PO below strut. An elegant example of this civic type, featuring some deep toning and a fairly solid strike overall.
