DIOCLETIAN, A.D. 284-305. AV Aureus (5.06 gms), Ticinum Mint, ca. A.D. 287. NGC MS, Strike: 5/5 Surface: 3/5. Fine Style. Brushed.
RIC-Unlisted; Calico-4451a (this coin illustrated). Obverse: Laureate and mantled bust left, holding eagle-tipped scepter; Reverse: Hercules standing right, with lion skin draped around arm and leaning upon club set upon rocks to right. A seemingly UNIQUE and unpublished specimen, this alluring gold issue presents a perfectly centered strike on each side along with a razor-sharp nature and a delightful golden-orange hue. Some very light brushing is noted, but not at all distracting, and an aspect that will not detract from the majesty presented here.
