A note from BCD: This massive three-volume work, printed on fine quality paper, including the plates, was planned to complement the BMC catalogues. It never duplicated coin photographs that had already been published in a BMC volume and was therefore a separate visual research reference. It remains a classic example of fine scholarship and is still useful for the rarities it illustrates.
