Silesia, Duchy of Glogau-Sagan, City heller Crossen - RARE

Rare and beautifully preserved, especially for this type, city heller from the mint in Crossen.

Silesia

Duchy of Glogau-Sagan, City Heller 1430-1476, Crossen mint

Obverse: double lily

Reverse: silesian Eagle, head facing left

Tomasz Struk in the Numismatic Bulletin in the article 'Moneta Crossone' from 2007, wrote about the presented heller: 'The heller comes from the last period of the Piast rule, from the middle of the 15th century to 1445/76. The eagle symbolizes the founders and rulers of the city - Piast Silesia (crescent moon on the chest), while the lily was a symbol of the city, derived from the patroness of the city church - the Blessed Virgin Mary. The golden lily flower motif is a symbol of the kingship and holiness of Mary. '
