Roman Republic, Faustus Cornelius Sulla, Denarius - RARE

Rare denarius with three small wreaths (coronae triumphales) symbolizing the three triumphs awarded to Pompey, then also called Magnus. In his third triumph, he announced the victory of Rome, orbis terrarum (domination over the world), here symbolized by the globe. The fourth, particularly large wreath is the aurea crown, which Pompey received as extraordinary honor and which he could wear during the Games.

Rzadki denar z trzem małymi wieńcami (coronae triumphales) symbolizującymi trzy triumfy przyznane Pompejuszowi, zwanemu wówczas także Magnusem. W swoim trzecim triumfie ogłosił zwycięstwo Rzymu orbis terrarum (dominację nad światem), tutaj symbolizowane przez kulę ziemską. Czwartym, szczególnie dużym wieńcem jest korona aurea, którą Pompejusz otrzymał jako niezwykły zaszczyt i którą mógł nosić podczas igrzysk.
