Estado de Guatemala Provisional Real 1829 NG-M VF Details (Reverse Scratched) NGC, Nueva Guatemala mint, KM75, Stickney-C103. A highly elusive one-year type which always comes fiercely contested regardless of its state of preservation. Conceived to pay for the occupation of Nueva Guatemala by the forces of Francisco Morazán following the violent civil war that arose in the country after dictatorial moves by President Manuel Arce, it is recorded that much of the silver for this coinage came from donations by the Catholic Church. Though the original quantity of metal suggests a rather sizeable mintage, most were likely never issued and were subsequently melted.
