According to geographic work of Mustawfi, composed about 1340, the town of Ujan, which had been devastated by the Mongol invasion, was rebuilt by Ghazan Mahmud and renamed Shahr-i Islam. Although the town was soon reduced to a village, the surrounding district was particularly fertile agriculturally and remained a favorite campsite for military activities until the late 19th century. It was located just outside the modern town of Bostanabad. A modern light industrial district has now been built over parts of the site of the abandoned village. This is the first known coin from Ujan.
