SAFAVID: Isma'il I, 1501-1524, AR shahi (9.08g), Badakhshan, AH918, A-2576, obverse divided in four panels, lovely strike with no weakness, but with the beginning of a die break at the right of the obverse, choice VF, RRR. It has been suggested that Badakhshan was technically under Mughal administration, but the coin is purely Safavid, with Shi'ite reverse, and thus classified as Safavid.
