DESCRIPTION GÉNÉRALE DES MONNAIES BYZANTINES FRAPPÉES SOUS LES EMPEREURS D'ORIENT DEPUIS ARCADIUS JUSQU'À LA PRISE DE CONSTANTINOPLE PAR MAHOMET II. An old reproduction of the plates, bound with facing ruled leaves onto which a thorough key to the plates has been written in ink, identifying coins by their placement in the text, metal, and value. 8vo, original green cloth, gilt. 70 reproduced plates with facing leaves. Some leaves reinforced at gutter with tape. Several leaves of handwritten notes laid in. Very good or so. A rarely encountered reprint of this classic work on Byzantine coins, with a privately assembled volume providing a detailed key to the plates and serving the collector as a guide to values. The plate volume bears the bookplate of Max Safron.
