1914 Hirsch Sale of Medals, Priced & Named
Hirsch, Jacob. SAMMLUNG DR. ARTHUR SAMBON, PARIS. MEDAILLEN UND PLAKETTEN DER RENAISSANCE. München: No. XXXV., 9. Mai 1914. 4to, original printed card covers. Fine frontispiece plate; (4), 42 pages; 168 lots; 12 fine double–page plates. Hand-priced and named in ink. [bound with] Hamburger, Leo. SAMMLUNG DES HERRN MAURICE FAURE. FLORENTINER UND SONSTIGE ITALIENISCHE MÜNZEN UND MEDAILLEN. ALTE KUNSTMEDAILLEN UND PLAKETTEN. Frankfurt am Main, 22.–23. September 1913. (4), 61, (3) pages; 733 lots; 38 fine plates mostly depicting medals and plaques. Two catalogues bound in one volume. 4to, somewhat later maroon textured cloth, gilt; original printed card covers bound in. Some plates of the first catalogue [printed as double plates to lie flat] have come loose from the binding; second sale's front cover loosely laid in. Very good. The Hirsch sale is an important, and rather scarce, sale of medals: named copies are rarely encountered. Clain-Stefanelli 14377. The second sale is Clain–Stefanelli 10240.
